Peter van Agtmael documents campaign for racial justice in Elizabeth City
Residents of Elizabeth City have been fighting for justice following the killing of African-American man, Andrew Brown, by police, in the area of North Carolina. Peter van Agtmael documented scenes in the city, and his images appeared in Le Monde last week. See the work online here.
Peter van Agtmael’s Black Lives Matter images on Pulitzer Center
Van Agtmael’s images of Vidor in East Texas, have appeared online. The images illustrate a story mapping the political temperature of the town over time. Formerly host to members of the Klu Klux Klan and labelled “Texas’ most hate-filled town”, Vidor was placed under pressure to confront its racist history following Black Lives Matter campaigns in 2020. Alex Webb photographs Bella Hadid for Vogue
A fashion shoot in Vogue magazine features images of Bella Hadid taken by Magnum photographer Alex Webb this week. Themed around travel, the shoot sees the model anticipating a journey in New York’s Penn Station. See the images in the magazine’s June/July issue, and online here.

The New York Times recently published a piece profiling the work of sculptor Chakaia Booker, featuring images by Hannah Price. Price visited Booker in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where she photographed the artist in her studio. See the images and read the piece here.

Sabiha Cimen’s Qur’an School project featured in Le Monde
The long-term project by Sabiha Cimen, Hafiz: Guardians of the Qur’an, has been featured in Le Monde this week. Inspired by her own attendance of a religious school in Turkey, Cimen was inspired to visit a range of these institutions as an adult, documenting the adventures, quirks and daily lives of muslim teens today.
